We couldn't really be happier with this product. It does make some noise, but we appreciate the "white noise" and would never go a night without this running in the nursery now. We've been using it for about 4 months now, and never had a problem with mold. It's easy to turn on/off and to refill.

For what it's worth Consumer Reports did suggest to go with an "ultrasonic" humidifier, saying they work better and are quieter. If we are ever in the market again, we will probably look for the ultrasonic feature. But for now, this one does just fine.

This humidifier does a great job raising the humidity level of the room where we want it and maintaining it. The noise is not an issue because we use a white noise sound machine for our little girl while she sleeps so this serves the same purpose.

Yes, we hear constant white noise from the monitor, but have no problem hearing her cry or make noises (move the humidifier AWAY from the receiver.)

I thought the filter might last longer, but after 3 months of use for up to 12 hours a day we need to replace the original filter.

We've been using this gate ever since our son learned that he didn't have to stay in one place. It's a decent buy, with a few drawbacks. First, it does peel paint off of the walls, probably because of the compound used to make the side feet. Second, it won't extend to fit wide spaces, like some of the other more expensive gates listed. Third, my son, who is 15 months and just learning how to walk (yes, he's been taking his time through life thus far), has figured out how to pop the gate open, so it is basically just a visual deterrent now. That being said, it is a sturdy gate and has done an acceptable job (until now). We're going need a better gate to keep him out of the cats' room!
